Meet Clippy Pet¶

Hi. It looks like you're meeting a paperclip. I have nine moods and sixteen ways of looking at you.

Clippy Pet is a small, deliberately old-school character built to a modern spec. Below is everything it can do, why it looks the way it does, and where the idea of a helpful office paperclip came from in the first place (spoiler: 1996, and it never really left).

  • The nine animations: idle, waving, jumping, three kinds of running, failed, waiting, review, each as a looping preview.
  • Sixteen look directions: the eyes follow your pointer in 22.5° steps.
  • The paperclip story: Office Assistant, Clippit, the 2001 send-off, and the nostalgia comeback.
  • Design notes: silhouette, palette, why 192×208, and reading well at 64 pixels.
